The Early Learning Center is a ministry of Sylva First United Methodist Church. We are a half‑day program for children ages 3 months to 5 years. We operate year‑round: our regular school year runs August through May, and we offer a summer program in June thru July. Regular hours are Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM–12:00 PM, with an optional early drop‑off from 7:30 AM–8:50 AM for an additional fee.
Our mission is to provide a safe. loving, and nurturing environment where every child feels valued, respected, and encouraged to grow. We are dedicated to supporting each child's social, emotional, physical and cognitive development through play-based learning, positive relationships, and hands on experiences. By partnering with families, we strive to build a strong foundation that inspires confidence, curiosity, kindness, and lifelong love of learning.
The Early Learning Center started in 2008 with just three children and one classroom. Over the years, we have grown into a program serving about 45- 55 students, infants through age five, across five classrooms. We saw a need for quality care for younger children in our community and chose to answer that need with a program built on caring, learning, and trust. What started small has grown through dedication to families and commitment to giving every child a safe, nurturing place to grow.
